Paste all 16 words from the Connections puzzle

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a daily word puzzle game from The New York Times that challenges players to find hidden connections between 16 words. Created by associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, it has become one of the most popular word games since its launch in 2023.

Each puzzle presents 16 words that must be sorted into 4 groups of 4 words each. The groups are color-coded by difficulty:

  • ๐ŸŸจ Yellow = Easiest category
  • ๐ŸŸฉ Green = Easy-medium difficulty
  • ๐ŸŸฆ Blue = Medium-hard difficulty
  • ๐ŸŸช Purple = Hardest (often tricky wordplay)

Our Connections Solver helps you identify potential word groupings by analyzing common themes, categories, and linguistic patterns in the puzzle words.

How to Play NYT Connections

  1. Study all 16 words โ€” Look for obvious connections first (colors, animals, foods, etc.)
  2. Select 4 words โ€” Tap or click words you think belong together
  3. Submit your guess โ€” If correct, the group is revealed with its category name
  4. You have 4 mistakes โ€” After 4 wrong guesses, the game ends
  5. Complete all 4 groups โ€” Find all connections to win!

Connections Strategy Guide

Master Connections with these proven strategies:

๐ŸŽฏ Start with Yellow

The yellow category is always the easiest. Look for obvious groupings like "Types of Fruit" or "Car Brands" first.

โš ๏ธ Watch for Traps

Some words fit multiple categories. "Mercury" could be a planet, element, or car brand. Consider all possibilities.

๐ŸŸช Purple is Tricky

The purple category often involves wordplay, puns, or less obvious connections like "Words that follow 'FIRE'" or "_____ King".

๐Ÿ”„ Process of Elimination

Once you solve easier groups, the remaining words become clearer. Save your guesses for when you're confident.
